Campus Challenge

  • WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?

Is your campus up to the challenge of raising money to help HazingPrevention.Org empower people to prevent hazing in college and university student groups?

HPO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing people with information, resources and programs that will help them know what hazing is and to step in and stop it when they see it occur. Every year in this country, at least one college student loses his or her life as the result of hazing. Hundreds of other students are physically harmed and emotionally damaged by hazing, leaving scars on the lives of victims, those who stand by and watch it happen, and those who commit the very acts themselves. Hazing ruins young lives that once held so much promise.

While hazing is an extremely serious issue, raising money for an organization dedicated to empowering people to prevent hazing should be FUN!

So, is your campus willing to step up to the Challenge? If so, the first step is to organize activities during National Hazing Prevention Week, September 24-28, 2012. Assemble a planning committee comprising representatives from every type of student organization and group on campus, including student affairs, residence life, Greek life, athletics, intramural/recreational and club sports, student activities, bands and music groups – and more. We’ve developed a Planning Guide to help you with that part.

Then, as part of your NHPW activities, do something creative to raise money for HazingPrevention.Org. Any amount you raise will help, but if you raise $1,000 or more, your campus will receive an annual HPO Campus Membership! See the sidebar to the right for a list of membership benefits your campus receives from October 1, 2012 – September 30, 2013.

    BUT THAT’S NOT ALL….

During NHPW, email us  to keep us up to date on what your campus is doing. We’ll add your progress to our Programs & Events section and our breaking news. Every campus team will get coverage on the NHPW microsite – fundraising event info, running totals of dollars raised, who’s doing what to answer the challenge, even photos – as long as you give us that information.

    NEED IDEAS? OPEN THE TOOLKIT!

Take a look at our Campus Challenge Toolkit for a few ideas you can use to host a successful NHPW Campus FUNdraising Challenge. The toolkit also includes sample communications you can use to help solicit donations and garner media coverage for your Campus FUNdraising Challenge events. If you can’t find something you need, in the toolkit, email us.

    NOW, GET STARTED!

Get a member of your campus student affairs staff to complete and return the Campus FUNdraising Challenge online registration form. Once we receive it, we’ll list your campus on the NHPW website with contact information so anyone who wants to help you with your challenge (alumni, faculty, etc.) can find a link to your campus information. Please note that there can be only one registration per campus.
